We are not at that stage yet and welcome (with intent) the registration of new and potential sheds ( those where an infrastructure is being created).

As mentioned earlier

Once members are registered the Association can begin to

Undertake strategic development and make national funding applications.

Provide support and guidance to sheds as they start up.

Put our sheds on a professional basis for long term national and local strategic development.

Organise a national  Conference of Shed Reps in 2012 (possibly June 2012 – such a  conference could include support and insights from Australian Men’s Shed Association Manager David Helmers)

Kind regards

Neil Bruce

Sample of a Menz Shed Philosophy

Monday, April 4th, 2011

The file below is a draft philosophy for a Menz Shed based on the Oxford Menz Shed and under current discussion by the New Brighton Menz Shed. The aim is to have clarity of purpose, and a relevant indicator of the foundations of  the shed to funders, community members and members of the shed.

A Sample of a Menz Shed Trust Deed

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

A sample of the deed used by the New Brighton Menz Shed, derived from the Oxford Menz Shed is attached.  It is done in Microsoft Word, and you can use edit/replace functions to change OUR Menz Shed to you you name quite handily. Thanks for sharing that guys! New Brighton Menz Shed Trust Deed 2

PS Feedback is, it can be a lot easier to just work inside an existing trust structure if you’ve got a local agency that has the skills and interest. The shed would be a committee inside that organisation, accountable to it to some degree.

National Men’s Shed Web Site Started

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

The national web site has come out of the plan from the first national hui in April 2010. See this link for more info. menzshedaotearoa.org.nz

The Canterbury Men’s Centre originally set up the mensshed.org.nz  site to provide  minimal support for men to find local sheds around the country. We hope the site mentioned above does a much better job of this.

We suggest that if you want post info about your shed or want to put your hand up to find other guys to start a shed that you contact the other site.
