Rowley Resource Centre Menz Shed
The Rowley Resource Centre in Christchurch is opening it’s shed soon. They have a garage set aside but have been held back by the need to do building consents for the whole range of their programmes before the shed can legally open. We have engaged our shed coordinator / supervisor who will become another of our funded part time staff. His name is Bruce Hussey and he was the Coordinator / Manager of the Civil Defence operations during the times of civil emergency following the Christchurch quakes. A fascinating guy with bags of experience with a good understanding and feel of what the Rowley Shed is all about. I’ll invite him to our next hub meeting. As we are still gearing up we have decided to delay our official opening until we have something to show. We have good funding and community gifts to complete the installation of equipment and this is progressing extremely well. Our next item needed is a either a used or new bench saw. In the meantime a core group of guys meet weekly to do stuff and to work out what sort of gear we will need – very grass roots involvement.
